Oh my, all the hurt and soreness throughout my body. Self-care here I come.
I love incorporating self-care in my life. While going through my new fitness program, HIIT and Weight Lifting, I’ve experienced all the aches in my body and muscle soreness. I absolutely loved these aches and pains though and it didn’t make me stop, which is normally what I would have done until now. This is why trainers talk about the importance of self-care, it’s literally mentioned in every single workout video. Self care helps release the tension, aches, and soreness in your body. When we participate in a workout program, we are rough on our body and it needs love and care to rebuild it’s strength to get through the following week.
Here are a few of my favorite things to do for self care:
- Stretching
- Roll and Release
- Paint your nails
- Paint a picture
- Get your hair done
- Get a massage
- Hiking
- See a chiropractor
- Read a sappy book
- Take a leisure walk
- Go to the beach
- Watch a movie
I would have to say my two favorite ways for are stretching and hiking. The stretching releases the tightness in my muscles, but then when you go to hiking and just listening to the sounds of nature is so soothing. Another great relaxing activity that I love to do is yoga. This is a great active recovery exercise that helps release the aches and soreness from the week’s workouts you did.
When embarking on a new fitness journey, make sure you add in a self-care day to just recover your body from all the hard work it endured the past week. For example; no workout on Sundays, but do a self-care day/activity. Your body will thank you later and you’ll greater results in the long run as your body is able to do more. AND your body will look amazing.
